THE CLIPBOARD IS one of computing’s oldest time– saving tools, but it has never evolved to keep up with the times. The main shortcoming is that you can only store one item on the clipboard at any time.

CopyQ is a free, open source app that bypasses this restriction by enabling you to build a library of frequently used clips that you can then place in the clipboard on–demand, or place your favorite clips at your fingertips via a universally accessible menu. The guides opposite will show you how to get up and running with CopyQ. As your clip library grows, you’ll be able to explore its many features to help you find them quickly: add tags, pin favorite clips, and make good use of the search tool (press Cmd+G) to search the currently selected tab using keywords based on your clip’s content as well as any tags that you have applied to it.

We also recommend frequently backing up your clip library. To do this simply go to File > Export, then select All before clicking OK.
