Visual overhauls
These widgets give you a ton of creative freedom to style up your device’s Home screen however you want
MOST WIDGETS ARE straightforward in their functions, acting as miniature versions of their parent apps and giving you quick glances at key info and features. This is likely what Apple had in mind when it unveiled the widget functionality in the first place, but as with all things, sometimes plans develop in unexpected ways.
There are some widgets that exemplify this reality. Apps like Widgetsmith and Widgeridoo let you add widgets that form part of a theme, for example by displaying images that match your wallpaper and icons. Combined with some clever design and careful planning, these apps and their widgets let you redecorate your device in ways Apple could probably never have imagined. As well as that, they offer fresh takes on standard widgets like clocks and weather forecasts, with much more control than Apple’s widgets offer.
