How to install your first widget

-

Getting things ready

As you would expect with Apple, the company has made installing widgets in iOS 14 a piece of cake. Your device will come with Apple apps that have their own widgets ready to go, although you might have to launch third–party apps at least once before their widgets are available.

Jiggle mode

Tap and hold a blank area of your Home screen. This will enter “jiggle mode,” where your apps begin shaking and you can move or remove them. You will notice a “+” button will appear at the top of your screen — tap it to see a list of available widgets that you can add.

Siri suggestions

At the top of the list are some widgets that Siri thinks you might like to use. Scroll down to find a list of available widgets in alphabetical order, or search for one with the bar at the top. Simply tap a widget and you will see the different sizes and options it has for you.

Add to the Home screen

Once you’ve settled on a widget, tap Add Widget. Or press and drag it to the top of the screen, which will clear everything and show your Home screen; it can then be dropped in place. Tap Done. To adjust the widget, tap and hold it then tap Edit Widget.
