Ultrawide or super silly? At 43–inches across this is a beast of a monitor and a multi–tasking monster, but it’s not hugely high resolution.
The HP S430c’s 3,840 horizontal pixels are on a par with a full 4K display but you only get 1,200 vertical pixels, which isn’t a huge upgrade on plain old 1080p. It’s a relatively modest overall pixel count given the huge panel size and it makes for conspicuously low pixel density of just 94DPI, and in turn fairly fuzzy fonts.
In other regards the image quality is merely adequate, lacking punch and saturation.
There’s also limited support for popular color spaces.
On the other hand, if you want to run in the region of four applications or documents in parallel, the sheer width of this display makes that a cinch. It also has two USB–C ports, both with device charging support and integrated keyboard and mouse switching with macOS support.
Huge panel for productivity
Dual USB–C inputs and KVM switch
Low pixel density
Mediocre image quality
