> Viewsonic VP3881
$999 From Viewsonic, viewsonic.com
This 38–inch beast from Viewsonic isn’t cheap, but it’s an alternative to a dual–monitor solution rather than a standalone option. With a 21:9 aspect ratio, 3,840 by 1,600 pixels and those large proportions, it’s suitable for viewing multiple apps in parallel.
Factor in the USB–C connectivity and the VP3881 will be bliss compared to a conventional multi–monitor setup with a tangle of cables. But it’s not a great choice for serious content creation because Viewsonic only rates it at 76 percent coverage of the Adobe RGB color space and 79 percent of DCI–P3.
That’s a pity, as this panel offers 10–bit per channel color, a 14–bit LUT, and comes calibrated with claimed Delta Es below two across the board.
But for general productivity this is a positively luscious panel with natural colors and great viewing angles. Just note that the large size of the gently curved panel results in a modest 109DPI. A Retina– like experience this is not.
