Water show
Kohler did as Kohler does, using CES as a vehicle to announce everything new from its extensive smart bathroom range. This means it coughed up everything from a $16,000 spa bath equipped with a fog machine and mood lighting to touchless taps and toilet handles, as well the Innate Intelligent Toilet, which promises to bring the luxury of Japanese toilets to DIY installers.
Depending on your definition of smart, you may find Kohler’s partnership with Phyn slightly more relevant than a convenience which can clean you off with an integrated bidet; the companies are working together on a self–installable water monitor, which can detect leaks in your home water supply and (if you go for the slightly more expensive version) automatically shut off your water to prevent any damage.
We were also fascinated to see Hydraloop’s new products, the H600 and Cascade. They add to the company’s existing water recycling units, and while they’re expensive and require professional installation, they give you the chance to reuse grey water. Don’t buy a new–build without one.
