HOW TO Capture more tonal detail

-

Helpful Histograms

Tap the Histogram graph to toggle between modes. The Luminance histogram is the most useful as it shows the spread of grayscale shadows, midtones, and highlights. Swipe from the left edge for exposure controls.

Expose for highlights

Tap to go to Manual mode, then tap Zebras. Swipe vertically to adjust the shutter speed, or horizontally to change ISO value. Green zebra stripes indicate overexposed highlights. Adjust exposure until the zebra stripes vanish.

Adjust for shadows

Here a combination of a low ISO value and a fast shutter speed causes an underexposed shot. The resulting dark shadows are indicated by purple zebra stripes. Adjust the exposure to brighten it and reveal shadow detail.
