Keychron K1 Wireless Mechanical Keyboard
Feel — and hear —every keystroke
From $74 From Keychron, keychron.com
Features Bluetooth, USB–A to C cable, backlighting
Keychron makes a range of keyboards for people who prefer a more traditional typing experience with significant travel and click, two things Apple has deliberately minimized in its own keyboards. This fourth version of the K1 adds Bluetooth 5.1 support, slightly curved keycaps, a caps lock indicator on the 87–key version and a white backlit 104–key model. Supplied with a USB-A to C cable for data and charging, it can also be switched to Bluetooth mode and easily paired with your Mac or PC. A switch on the rear enables Windows and Android support, and you can swap function keys using the bundled keycap puller.
Battery life is rated at up to 190 hours with backlighting off and up to 38 hours with it on, varying a little between white and RGB models. A choice of Gateron switches offer slightly different responses and noise levels. Well–built and with reassuring tactile feedback, this is a great keyboard.
THE BOTTOM LINE. A solid, tactile mechanical keyboard for serious typing. HOLLIN JONES
