> GREAT THIRD–PARTY WEBCAM APPS

-

There are plenty of apps out there that offer to enhance your video calls, and some are definitely worth a look.

In ML176, we explained how to use Camo. This handy app lets you use your iPhone as a webcam, offering much higher resolution than your Mac’s standard camera (especially if you use your iPhone’s rear cameras). It also gives you deep control over image quality, with toggles for brightness, hue, contrast, and more.

Another option is Quick Camera. This lightweight app is helpful if you’re sharing your screen, as it creates a small window that can display input from any camera connected to your Mac. You could have a camera pointed at a flipchart or maybe something you’re doing a demonstration on, for example, such as a laptop that you’re showing a friend how to repair.

While sharing your screen, you might have the Quick Camera window overlaid on top of a list of instructions, aiding both yourself and the person you’re calling.
