> HOW TO MANAGE THE DOCK AND REDUCE SHORTCUT CLUTTER
1 Move your Dock
Your Mac’s display is widescreen. Placing the Dock at the right–hand screen edge maximizes vertical screen space Make this change by Control– clicking the Dock separator and choosing Right from “Position on Screen.”
2 Empty your Dock
Apple fills the Dock with loads of apps you won’t use. Remove them and start afresh. The Dock then only displays currently launched apps. If you want one to stay permanently, Ctrl–click it and go to Options > Keep in Dock.
3 Add folders
The lower half of the Dock (when it’s on the right) can house folders dragged from Finder. Add Applications, Downloads, and any other important folder. Ctrl–click and use display options best suited for the folder’s content.
