Reinstalling macOS is the last resort when your other troubleshooting steps haven’t worked. Back up anything important (if possible) before you do it. On an M–powered Mac, press and hold the power button until you see startup options; on Intel, hold down Cmd+r, press power and don’t let go until you see the Apple logo.
