> Kensington Expert Mouse
$109.99 From kensington.com
Features Bluetooth and RF, four buttons, scroll–ring, 12–month battery (2x AA)
Trackballs are something of an acquired taste, but many people find them more comfortable than trackpads as they allow you to rest your wrist on the desk and control your Mac with very small movements of your fingers. Kensington’s Expert is a little pricey but it’s well designed, with a detachable wrist–rest and four large buttons that can be programmed using Kensington’s Works app. It also has a rotating “scroll ring” that surrounds the central trackball and functions like the scroll wheel on an ordinary mouse.
The Expert can connect using either Bluetooth or the USB radio dongle that’s included. It doesn’t have a rechargeable battery, but Kensington includes two AA batteries, which should last for a full year before you have to buy replacements.
