Fjallraven’s take on the hip bag is outwardly compact, but the 2L capacity is still plentiful for most needs. The setup is simple: a sizeable main compartment houses a mesh section with a soft padded lining. There’s a security pocket at the rear, though it’s too small for an iPhone 12. It’s ideal for keys or cards, and the padding on the body–facing fabric prevents discomfort.

Both pockets are zippered, with a double on the main section for convenience. Neither zip is weather proofed in any way, though the main zip features a flap to ward off inclement weather. The Bergshell 400D fabric feels tough, but it’s that bit softer than the other bags here. The strap is relatively narrow, but we found it to be comfortable and accommodating for big and small folks, in either hip or sling mode. The Ulvo has by far the most color options, with eight lovely hues to choose from.
