Is Tim Cook intercepting your iCloud?

In recent months, there has been a rash of stories about Apple’s approach to identifying and removing horrific illegal content from its services, and that has led to concerns that Apple is scanning people’s iCloud Photos for illegal images. At the time of writing Apple doesn’t scan iCloud photos or backups, although it does scan incoming and outgoing iCloud email attachments. Many cloud services do scan everything, not just for illegal images but for anything that breaks their terms of use.
