HOW TO Get started with Clubhouse
1 Listen live
The app’s home screen (called the Hallway) lists shows that are currently live. Tap a room to join it. You will be muted; tap the hand icon if you want to say something. Otherwise, sit back and enjoy the conversation!
2 Room activities
Once you’re inside a room, tap the “+” icon to add someone to the session, or tap the paper aeroplane to send a direct message. Tap “…” in the top–right to share the room with others or search for a specific member.
3 Find clubs and topics
Back in the Hallway, tap the magnifying glass to find new clubs. At the top are suggested people to follow, while you can browse categories below. Each category has subtopics.
4 Follow someone
For more details on people to follow, tap their name. You’ll see their profile information and the clubs they are part of. Tap Follow to get updates on their activities, or the paper aeroplane to send a message.
5 Join a club
When you’ve found an interesting club, tap Join. If there are any club rules, you will need to accept them first; otherwise, you will join straight away. To leave, tap Member on the club’s page, then Leave Club.
6 Club schedule
Each club’s page shows its upcoming events. Tap an event to share it with friends or add it to your calendar for a timely reminder. Tap the bell icon and Clubhouse will alert you when the event is due to start.
7 Invite a friend
In the Hallway, you can invite your friends by tapping the envelope icon at the top, then tapping “Search using my Contacts”. Or just enter a name or phone number into the search box, then tap Invite.
8 Start a room
To create a room, tap “Start a room” in the Hallway. Choose if it will be open to all, just people you follow, or invite–only. Tap “Add a Topic” to set an agenda, then tap “Let’s go” to start or “Choose people” to add members.
9 Future events
You can also schedule a future event (this gives more options than in step 8). In the Hallway, tap the calendar, then tap the “+” button. Enter your event details, then Publish. You can share it too, if you want.
