If you have an external keyboard for your iPad, iPadOS 15 has lots of shortcuts for you. It now uses the Globe key (bottom left on a Magic Keyboard) for a lot of system shortcuts: use it with H to return to the Home Screen, or with C or N to open the Control Center or Notification Center respectively. Globe+S opens Siri, and Globe with the left and right arrow keys moves between apps.
