HOW TO iCloud backups on your iPhone

Turn on iCloud backup

Tap Settings, then tap your Apple ID. Choose iCloud, then iCloud Backup and toggle the switch to on. Alternativ­ely, after tapping your Apple ID, tap the name of your device, then iCloud Backup and toggle the switch on.

Backup space

To see how much space backups are using in iCloud, go to Settings > Apple ID and tap Manage Storage. Tap Backups and you’ll see the devices that have been backed up to iCloud. Tap one for more details.

Erase and restore

Before you restore from an iCloud backup, you’ll need to erase your device. Tap Settings, then General. Scroll down and tap Transfer or Reset iPhone then choose “Erase All Content and Settings.”

Back up immediatel­y

In addition to turning on automatic backups, you can make ad–hoc backups. In Settings > Apple ID > iCloud > iCloud Backup, under the toggle switch, tap Back Up Now. This will initiate a new backup of your device.

Manage backups

In Settings, tap your Apple ID. Tap iCloud, then Manage Storage. Tap Backups then tap your device. Wait until apps are displayed, then tap Show All Apps. Toggle the switch next to an app to turn off backups.

Restore from iCloud backup

When your device restarts, go through the set up process. At Apps and Data, pick Restore from iCloud Backup. Enter your Apple ID and password, tap Agree, and choose a backup.
