All models can input text using Scribble — when you draw the letters — and dictation, and in watchOS 8 you can switch between the two modes. As before, you can turn the Digital Crown to move between words if the recognition tech didn’t quite get it right, and you can use different languages in Scribble by swiping up from the bottom of the screen.

If you have your iPhone handy, you can use its keyboard for composing messages on your Apple Watch. When you start composing your message on your Watch, you’ll see a pop–up on the iPhone screen asking if you want to use the iOS keyboard. Tap it and type.

You can now easily switch between Scribble and Dictate.
