HOW TO Make a personalized Lock Screen
Choose wallpaper
Tap and hold on the Lock Screen and tap the “+”. Swipe up to scroll through the sections of different wallpapers, including Suggested Photos. If you see one you like, tap it, then tap Add to select it.
Make your own
If none of the suggestions appeal to you, tap Photos at the top of the screen and either scroll through your photos, search for one, or tap Albums to choose an album to look through. Tap a photo you like.
Edit photo
Swipe left over the screen to see the different photo filter options. To see more options, such as Depth Effect if it’s available, tap the “…” icon. Use two fingers to unpinch to zoom in and crop the photo. When you’re happy, tap Add.
Customize clock
In the customization screen, after choosing a wallpaper, tap the clock. Tap one of the font options and one of the color options below. If you select the globe, you can change the numerals to Arabic Indic or Devanagari.
Add widgets
In the same customisation screen, tap Add Widgets, or if there are widgets already there, tap them. Tap “–” to remove a widget and then tap a widget to add it from the Add Widgets drawer. Tap “X” then Add to finish.
Change top widget
There’s another space for widgets, above the clock. To change it on a wallpaper, choose Customise and tap the widget. Swipe up over the list to see them all and tap one to choose it. Tap “X” then Add to confirm.
Edit portraits
If you choose a photo taken in Portrait mode as your Lock Screen photo, swipe through options such as Studio and Color Wash. Tap “…” to switch between Low Key and High Key or change the color of a color wash.
Choose a Focus
Long press the Lock Screen and tap Focus. Choose a focus from the menu, or you can tap Focus Settings to edit the settings of an existing focus or create a new one. Tap the “X” then the Lock Screen to finish.
New Home Screen
When you create a new Lock Screen, iOS 16 changes your Home Screen wallpaper too. To choose a different Home Screen, go to Settings > Wallpaper and tap Customise under the Home Screen image.
