THE annual Christmas Gift Ideas Competition winner was announced on Tuesday, with Manjimup’s Theresa Peos, 17, taking home the $500 gift card prize from Steve’s Menswear on Giblett Street.

Competition coordinator Ben Verrall said more local businesses had been involved this year, with an estimated 2500 entries, an increase on last year’s count.

“We enjoy giving back, it’s a great thing to give a nice gift before Christmas,” Mr Verrall said.

Miss Peos had bought a jumper for her sister as a Christmas gift when she entered the competition, and said “if they’re lucky” her family might also share in some of the prize.

Steve’s Menswear store owner Anna Demiris said her store was appreciative to be supported by Manjimup shoppers.

“I think it’s a great competition that the local paper run,” she said.

“Just promoting shop local,

that’s why we wanted to be part of it. Manjimup has everything to offer in town for Christmas and all throughout the year, so I think it’s a great competition.”

Miss Demiris said she appreciated the $500 worth of advertising Steve’s Menswear would receive as the store winners, and sent Manjimup well wishes for the festive season.

“We’re hoping everybody had a lovely Christmas,” she said.

“And best wishes for the New Year from Steve’s Menswear.”
