Bridgetown Cricket Club is cel­e­brat­ing back-to-back pre­mier­ship wins in the War­ren Black­wood Cricket As­so­ci­a­tion. This year’s win, played against Forestry at Bridgetown Oval on Satur­day, came on the back of an un­de­feated sea­son for the club.

BRIDGETOWN Cricket Club made it back-to-back pre­mier­ship flags by de­feat­ing Forestry by five wick­ets in the War­ren Black­wood Cricket As­so­ci­a­tion grand fi­nal in Bridgetown on Satur­day.

The vic­tory caps off an un­beaten sea­son for the Bull­dogs and is the club’s third pre­mier­ship in the past four sea­sons.

Bridgetown’s Mitchell Clothier spear­headed the win, claim­ing a sec­ond con­sec­u­tive Man of the Match award for the best afield in the sea­son de­cider.

Clothier up­rooted the mid­dle and lower or­der, claim­ing a hat­trick in his sev­enth over en route to fig­ures of 4-31 from nine overs.

The all-rounder also made 26 not out and was at the crease when the win­ning runs were scored, adding an un­beaten 44 with Si­mon Dun­can (16 not out).

Forestry won the toss and elected to bat first in windy con­di­tions.

Kane Aitken top scored with 41 for the vis­i­tors and he added 44 for the third wicket with Dan Ward (32) to help Forestry post 131.

The Bridgetown at­tack was dif­fi­cult to score from again as they re­stricted the scor­ing rate to un­der three runs an over.

Robert Brayshaw claimed 2-32, while Shane Glancy (1-8), Kim­ber­ley Gar­diner (1-17) and Ron­ald Roberts (1-27) snared a wicket apiece.

Si­mon Dun­can went wicket-less but re­stricted the scor­ing with 0-12 from nine overs in­clud­ing five maid­ens.

In re­ply to the mod­er­ate to­tal Bridgetown stut­tered, los­ing Brayshaw (4) and Matthew Tas­sos (1) to be 2-17 in­side the first eight overs. Glancy top scored with 39 and hit three fours and two sixes while at the crease.

He added a valu­able 42 with Dar­ren Tas­sos (23) while Hugh Mitchell was run out for six.

This left the match in the bal­ance at 5-88 but Dun­can and Clothier pro­vided cool heads to seal the vic­tory for Bridgetown in the 32nd over.

Dar­ron Tas­sos (23 runs), of Bridgetown, hits a four in the grand fi­nal against Forestry at the week­end.

Bridgetown's Rob Brayshaw's (4 runs) in­nings was cut short on the sec­ond ball of his team's in­nings.
