Two deaths on re­gion’s roads

A HOR­ROR week­end on the re­gion’s roads has re­sulted in the deaths of two Bun­bury men in just over 24 hours.

On Fri­day about 1pm, a 41year-old man was driv­ing a loaded log truck south east on Chan­ny­bearup Road near Smiths Road when it is be­lieved he failed to ne­go­ti­ate a bend in the road.

The truck rolled and its driver was pro­nounced dead at the scene when emer­gency ser­vices at­tended.

About 2.30pm on Satur­day, a 48-year-old mo­tor­cy­clist died af­ter his 2015 black Har­ley-David­son hit a tree stump.

The rider was part of a group on Brock­man High­way about 5km from Nan­nup when the crash hap­pened.

The man was thrown from his mo­tor­cy­cle, which was pro­pelled back onto the high­way. An­other rider, 45, who was part of the group crashed into the downed mo­tor­cy­cle and was also thrown from his blue Har­ley-David­son.

The 48-year-old re­ceived crit­i­cal in­juries and was taken to Bridgetown Hos­pi­tal be­fore be­ing air-lifted to Royal Perth Hos­pi­tal, where he died.

The 45-year-old man re­ceived mi­nor in­juries and was treated at Nan­nup Hos­pi­tal.
