Two deaths on region’s roads
A HORROR weekend on the region’s roads has resulted in the deaths of two Bunbury men in just over 24 hours.
On Friday about 1pm, a 41year-old man was driving a loaded log truck south east on Channybearup Road near Smiths Road when it is believed he failed to negotiate a bend in the road.
The truck rolled and its driver was pronounced dead at the scene when emergency services attended.
About 2.30pm on Saturday, a 48-year-old motorcyclist died after his 2015 black Harley-Davidson hit a tree stump.
The rider was part of a group on Brockman Highway about 5km from Nannup when the crash happened.
The man was thrown from his motorcycle, which was propelled back onto the highway. Another rider, 45, who was part of the group crashed into the downed motorcycle and was also thrown from his blue Harley-Davidson.
The 48-year-old received critical injuries and was taken to Bridgetown Hospital before being air-lifted to Royal Perth Hospital, where he died.
The 45-year-old man received minor injuries and was treated at Nannup Hospital.
Major Crash Investigators are seeking information from anyone who saw the crash or saw the motorcycles before the crash to help with the investigation.
