Marathon re­lay’s 40th an­niver­sary

The LiveLighter Black­wood Marathon Re­lay will be held on Oc­to­ber 27 with this year mark­ing its 40th an­niver­sary.

The event will start in Boyup Brook and fin­ish in Bridgetown. By the end of the re­lay, par­tic­i­pants will have cov­ered 60km of the Black­wood River Val­ley.

Com­peti­tors will be in teams of five with one per­son com­pet­ing in each of the five cat­e­gories; run­ning, horse rid­ing, ca­noe­ing, swim­ming and cy­cling.

There is also the op­tion to com­pete in the iron man or woman.

The race this year will co­in­cide with Bridgetown’s 150th birth­day and will run from 8am to 2pm, with pre­sen­ta­tions after­wards.

The en­try fee is $300 for each team and $150 for the iron man/ woman. Money raised from the re­lay will help fund Bridgetown Ro­tary Club projects.
