Kearnan College’s younger students have received a present from the school and its parents and friends committee in the form of a new playground.

The equipment was installed during the September school holidays and was opened to students last week after its accompanying sand pit was completed.

Principal Jason Meynell said the school and the P&F each paid half the cost.

“The early childhood staff wanted equipment to improve the physical activities of our students,” Mr Meynell said.

Students have been enjoying the new equipment, such as Year 2 Lilly Jacob, who said it was good to improve strength and climbing skills.

“The playground is great for all the junior primary students because we all enjoy playing games and using the flying fox,” she said.

“I really like the firefighter pole because I know how to slide down it,” kindergarten student Ryan Roberts said.

“I like the stairs because it’s the way you go to get to the slide and I like the spider web because you can pretend to be a spider,” kindergarten student Elsa Kristoffersson said.

Kearnan College pre-primary students Charlotte Raper, front left, Saskia Dronow, Philomena Mashangu and Devin Vieira Gouveia are excited about the school's new playground.
