Produce in the spotlight in Canberra
Southern Forests produce is going from strength to strength as it continues to be in the State and national spotlight.
The region’s produce was on display in Canberra on October 15 when Southern Forests Food Council chairman Bevan Eatts, Pemberley Wines’ Monica Radomiljac and Manjimup shire president Paul Omodei attended the inaugural Showcase WA.
Products included dried Bravo apples, Truffle and Wine Co. truffles, Southern Forest Green Tea and New Leaf Orchards sparkling apple juice.
Showcase WA was organised by O’Connor MHR Rick Wilson and Burt MHR Matt Keogh and saw more than 50 Canberra-based Ambassadors, High Commissioners and MPs at Parliament House to celebrate WA food and wine.
Mr Wilson said the event was an opportunity to showcase WA’s produce and for producers to make contacts that could result in lucrative new markets interstate and overseas.
“As co-chair of the Parliamentary Friends of WA, I believe we can play an important role in making sure our produce, tourism and business assets are put in front of an international audience,” he said.
Another boon for the Southern Forests Food Council has seen further exposure for local produce on a wider scale.
A record 26 greengrocers in Perth have got behind the Genuinely Southern Forests 2018 retail marketing campaign.
In its third year, the campaign brings the region’s produce to metropolitan stores.
The campaign includes sample stalls in participating greengrocers, where customers can try a range of products.
Mr Eatts said the campaign showed tangible results to the shop floor, which was a win for everyone.
