Police plea to take extra care on roads
Christmas may be over but people are being reminded to stay vigilant on the roads.
Manjimup police will be out and about across the rest of the festive period to keep the roads safe, which will include conducting random breath and drug tests.
“Please watch out for gravel shoulders,” Sen. Const Tom Beringer said.
“There’s no tolerance for drink or drug-driving, too.”
As of December 18 there had been 152 road fatalities in WA, 97 of them on regional roads.
This is an increase on the 86 fatalities on regional roads up to the same date in 2017.
Double demerits began at 12.01am on Friday and will remain in effect until January 6 at 11.59pm.
Manjimup police Sen. Const. Tom Beringer and Acting Sgt Nick Howe remind people to stay safe on the roads over the rest of the holiday period.
