Blatant cruelty

Mansfield Courier - - OPINIONS/PEOPLE - Debbie Roberts and Kathy Monroe, Mansfield

SHOPPING in the unbearable heat last Friday, my friend and I were subjected to the sight/ sounds of distressed dogs on the open tray of a ute on one side of the street in blazing sun and of two other dogs on the other side of the street on the back seat of a closed car.

We recommend to the owners of these dogs that they read the article in the latest edition of North by North East (page 67) on the devastating effects of hyperthermia on dogs.

Such cruelty is not only devastatingly cruel to the dogs but causes much distress to passersby who feel helpless to do anything.

Dog owners surely must realise that, like humans, dogs are sentient beings.
