Early birds beat the heat in ladies golf
WOW - how hot is the weather, but still the girls of the Mansfield Golf Club get out and play their golf.
Starting the week was Tuesday’s three club event which was won by Irene Pfluger (40) with 15pts from Anne Watkins 13pts.
Wednesday was a Par round with the girls teeing off very early to beat the heat, and it was great to see a good number of players hitting, considering what they played.
The winner on the day was Glenis Skinner ( 42) with a square, r unner- up was Sam Bailey (24) with -1, and lineballs went t o Lyn Poulson, Marg Franke-Williams, Irene Pfluger and Patsy Smiles all on -2 and Gayle Wells -3.
Nearest the Pin third were Jacqui Smithwick and the 16th Andrea Marsden.
On a more serious note we all wish Linda Terry a speedy recovery after being hit between the eyes with a golf ball on the day.
After a few stitches and a bit of rest I’m sure it won’t be long before she is back to have another go.
Thursday’s George Walker was won by Shirley Nolan with a great score of 19pts, while two lineballs went to Sue Parsons with 15pts and Lesley Anderson with 14pts on countback.
Saturday was t he Millott Concrete Cutting Ambrose with a small field turning up to an earlier start on such a hot day.
The winners of the day were the all girl team of Sue Parsons, Lorraine Cullen and Janette Shuttleworth.
Thanks must go to the Millott family for their generous sponsorship of this event.
There was also four players in a separate stableford round with Sam Bailey (24) winning with 36pts from Leslie Anderson with 31pts.
Wednesday will be a stableford round with a shotgun start, and it was to be 8.30am for 9am but I think we will start at 8am.
Saturday is a stroke round, and don’t forget to start thinking about a team for the annual hospital fundraiser on February 23, 10am shotgun start with fantastic prizes to be won, including two cars for holes in one on the ninth and the 16th.
All proceeds to the Mansfield District Hospital so come along and have a great day.
IN THE DRIVER’S SEAT: Millie Cumming lets fly with her driver last week.
