Progress for Mt Buffalo Chalet announced
MANY Mansfield residents will be pleased to hear that the restoration of the Mt Buffalo Chalet is in the offing.
Bill Sykes (MLA, Benalla) announced recently that the delivery of major works for the Mt Buffalo Chalet is a step closer with the proposal for redevelopment works currently being assessed.
The restoration works will come under the federal Environment Protection and Biodiversity Conservation Act 1999 and Heritage Victoria.
Mr Sykes said a plan had been developed by heritage architects to help deliver the Victorian Government’s $7.5 million commitment to restore and re-open the chalet.
Minister for Environment and Climate Change Ryan Smith said “while the plans are being finalised, there are lots of good reasons to visit the chalet and Mt Buffalo National Park”.
“A new display for visitors has been installed along with a new mobile coffee service at the Gorge, adjacent to the chalet,” Mr Smith said.
Guided tours of the chalet continue this summer.
