MY how the season flies by so fast when Mansfield Bowls Club members are having fun.

With all the pennant now out of the way it is on with the last of the club championship tournaments.

Yesterday saw the first round of the ladies triples championships with the next two rounds to be played next Tuesday.

The ladies B Grade championships are coming up commencing on March 18 with rounds 1 and 2 with finals to be played on March 21.

Entries close on March 11 for this championship.

Last week the Rookies came to a climax with the grand final being played between Unbiased and Robbo’s Glass.

Robbo’s team of Kane Blunt, Mark Bettany and Steve Clay came out the winners but not before a great battle from Tony Pridham, Steve Chisholm and Sue Hardiman.

The winners and runners up were rewarded with a trophy presentation by Rookies coordinator Bob Appleby who invited all players back again next season.

In the meantime Tuesday social bowls commenced last week with 18 bowlers playing triples.

The successful team on the day were Graeme McArthur, Gail Brabazon and Greg Snider – let’s call them Triple Gs and their scores – game one 12 against 5 and game two 7 against 6.

Tuesday social bowls will continue on the back green with roll up at 10.15am and play starting at 10.30.

ROOKIES RULE: The Rookies night season came to an end last week with Robbo’s Glass, comprising (from left) Kane Blunt, Mark Bettany and Steve Clay, taking home the winner’s trophies.
