Chisholm stars in dual games On The Courts

Mansfield Courier - - SPORT - By JOHN EISNER

ANOTHER three good games were played last Tuesday in the men’s basketball series with Men-O-War (MOW) taking on the Forfeiters in game one.

MOW played good defence, limiting the Forfeiters’ outside shots and in the second half Nathan Bargerbos secured 12 points.

MOW lacked a bit of offensive structure, however, and with Tyler Chisholm filling in for the Forfeiters with 11 points they slipped home in a 29 to 26 result.

Tyler Chisholm (playing for his own team, The Eagles) was able to shoot 20 points in game two thanks to the Eagles’ free flowing offensive passing against the High Country Cowboys.

Brad Friend hit a couple of three pointers, but was shut down and Sam Corden and Scott Markwick made a couple of nice plays for the Cowboys.

With some good rebounding and extra goals from Wal Smith and Kane Blunt the Eagles were comfortably home in a 38 to 18 result.

In a spirited third game Baily and Ben Vogelzang shot 21 points between them for Merrijig sealing the Palms’ fate in a 32 to 21 win.

Jarrod Hueston, Jimmy Herridge and Darren Loughridge made some good moves for the Palms but in the end the Palms just didn’t manufacture enough scoring plays.
