Should have been reviewed

Mansfield Courier - - OPINIONS/PEOPLE - Don Howie, Mansfield

COUNCIL is spending in excess of $2.1 million on the upgrade to the sport and recreation ground.

This project is a major capital expenditure for our council and of a similar magnitude to the child care facility.

The current council was elected to office with the commitment of appointing a finance committee to review major capital expenditure projects.

The VFF has been approached by a number of members of the community who are concerned about both the extended time frame of this project and the true costs of the project to ratepayers.

A project of this magnitude should be independently reviewed by either the finance committee or the audit and risk committee both of which are well qualified to undertake such a review.
