Annual campdraft is approaching

Mansfield Courier - - WHAT’S ON -

IT’S nearly time for the annual Mansfield Campdraft, with horses and riders gearing up again for the April 5 and 6 event at the Mansfield Showgrounds.

Held every year, the campdraft will see 650 runs conducted over the course of two days – with at least a few thrills and spills guaranteed.

Campdrafting is one of the few local events that do not charge a spectator fee, and with food and refreshments available, there is no excuse not to go along and witness first hand this great family fun event.

Campdrafting is a contest between horse, rider and beast.

It begins with a rider cutting a beast from a small herd, with points given for horse and beast control.

They then move to an outside arena where the horse and rider try to “drive” the beast in a cloverleaf pattern.

Scores are given for both camp work and arena work separately.

The Mansfield Campdraft kicks off at 7am and all are welcome.
