MANSFIELD’S mayor, Marg Attley, has been elected to the Victorian Local Governance Association (VLGA) executive board.

Cr Attley was welcomed to the new board for 2015/16 of the VLGA on Thursday, February 26, when the new executive was elected.

Cr Attley said recently she was excited to be elected to this board.

Cr Attley was first elected to the Mansfield Shire Council in 2008 and has also been an advocate for women in local government.

The VLGA supports local councils governing together with their communities to build strong, inclusive and resilient societies.

The three themes of the VLGA’s new Outcomes Plan are: (L) developing local leadership; (L) leading the debate on local governance; and (L) building community capacity. The first advocacy role will be working with local governments across Victoria on the new State Government’s proposed ‘rate capping’.
