Student leadership strong at secondary college

-

THROUGHOUT their schooling, students at Mansfield Secondary College are offered numerous opportunities to fulfil leadership roles.

Being a student leader encourages the development of organisational, communication and teamwork skills, ensures that the student voice is heard and increases individual confidence when communicating with people of a variety of ages.

In addition to the school captains, Tim Hume and Ruby Lieber, and vice-captains Liam Edwards and Jessie Azzopardi, the college has a representative body, the Student Representative Council (SRC).

The SRC is a forum through which the student cohort can express their views.

Each year level is represented at fortnightly meetings by two students, including the school captains.

The SRC is involved in fundraising, running student activities and suggesting improvements for the college.

The SRC has been busy already this year running a successful barbecue at the college swimming sports.

Their next two major fundraising events will be ‘The World’s Greatest Shave’ event happening at the college tomorrow and the college athletic sports on March 20.
