Three injured, home, cars destroyed by fire
THREE occupants of a Macs Cove home suffered burns as they fled a blaze which completely destroyed the two-storey holiday home, and two vehicles, early Saturday morning.
One person was flown to the Alfred Hospital with burns to approximately 30 percent of his body while two other occupants were taken to Mansfield District Hospital for treatment for minor burns and were later discharged.
CFA and police fire investigators combed through the ruins of the home on Saturday to determine the cause of the fire, and their investigations were ongoing at the time of going to press.
CFA units from Mansfield, Booroolite, Gough’s Bay and Jamieson attended the scene, and were later praised for their quick action and efforts in saving the house next door from also catching fire.
The flames from the burning home had scorched the side of the home and gardens and had almost reached the roof of the neighbouring house before firefighters arrived.
ALL GONE: All that remains of a Macs Cove home and vehicles destroyed by fire in the early hours of Saturday morning.
