Play highlights continued improvement from juniors

Mansfield Courier - - SPORT - By SCOTT DUNSTAN

THERE was plenty of sunshine at the Lords Ground on Saturday morning for the under 10s football.

The Demons got off to a good start with some strong football from their mid fielders.

Ashton Dean, AJ Thomson and Ben Reardon worked well together to move the ball and give their forwards the opportunity to get some early scores on the board.

This meant the Hawks’ defence was under plenty of pressure and had to work hard.

Kai Longstaff, Hannah Berriman and Connor Healy were solid and made the job difficult for the Demons forwards.

As the game went on there was some great passages of play, highlighting the ongoing big improvement in skill from both teams.

Hunter Reeve, Dan Young and Paddy Buchanan fought hard all day for the Demons, while Jimmy Christopher and Paddy Dunstan linked up well together.

In the last quarter goals were hard to come by with both teams showing strong defensive play.

Spencer Tanner and Indi Nicholls were good for the Demons while Hawks captain Bob Ritchie and ruckman Harry Purcell moved the ball cleanly down to their full forward Carson Weingott, who was able to take a spectacular mark and go back and kick a major score for the Hawks.

See all teams this week at the main oval for the grand final, marking the end of the junior football season for another year.
