Mansfield Courier - - NEWS -

CRIMESTOPPERS Victoria’s Dob in a Dealer program has received national recognition with a $1 million commitment from the Federal Government, which will see the program delivered across the country.

The program, which is funded by the Victorian Government’s Community Crime Prevention Program and run in collaboration with Victoria Police, aims to tackle the flow of crystal methamphetamine (ice) and other illicit drugs into regional areas.

Sergeant Matt Bennett of Mansfield and Mt Buller police said yesterday that although drug dealing was not out of control in Mansfield it was happening everywhere.

At present drug dealing was also occurring on Mt Buller, where there is a large cultural and socio economic mix of people.

“Our best advice for anyone having information on drug dealers is to ring Crime Stoppers,” Sgt Bennett said.

Since Dob in a Dealer was first created by Crime Stoppers in 2014, the program has been rolled out to 14 different regional towns across the state with great success.

Anyone who has any information on drug dealing can contact Crime Stoppers on 1800 333 000.
