Free lec­ture se­ries

THE Mans­field In­te­grated Health Ser­vice is host­ing a free triple lec­ture se­ries with psy­chother­a­pist, Liz Scarfe.

Start­ing next Wed­nes­day at 7.30pm, the first ses­sion is on the “psy­cho­log­i­cal self-harm epi­demic”, and will look at the dis­abling ten­dency of Western World in­hab­i­tants to shame, crit­i­cise and be­rate our­selves.

The sec­ond ses­sion, to be held on Wed­nes­day, Septem­ber 9, is “Why weight” and will look at weight is­sues – but in­stead of ask­ing why can’t we lose weight, will in­stead fo­cus on why it was gained in the first place.

The third lec­ture, on de­pres­sion, will take place on Septem­ber 23 and will ex­am­ine the the­ory of de­pres­sion be­ing caused by a chem­i­cal im­bal­ance in the brain, and in­stead will ex­plore other po­ten­tial ex­pe­ri­ences that may have trig­gered the de­pres­sion.

The lec­ture se­ries will be held each fort­night at the rear of the Mans­field Med­i­cal Clinic, and will run for an hour each ses­sion.

En­try is by gold coin do­na­tion, and ev­ery­one is welcome to at­tend.
