Cricket into new pastures
THE annual general meeting of the Delatite Cricket Club was held last week, ending one era and introducing a new one.
President Ken Cousins welcomed a large gathering to the Mansfield Hotel to celebrate the end of the Benalla Cricket Association and the getting ready for the new horizons of the Wangaratta association.
In his president’s report, he highlighted the highs and lows of the season.
“It was another successful season, with both grades again claiming silverware in their respective T20 competitions,” he said.
“The two ‘big’ finals were a disappointment unfortunately, with both grades falling at the final hurdle.
“Other notable highlights of the year were Peter Scales’ 200 games, Colin Godber’s 100 games and life membership, club representatives at Melbourne Country Week, Benalla Country Week and Junior Country Week and the day/night Pink Stumps game.”
Mr Cousins congratulated all volunteers and helpers for their endeavours during the season.
Election of officers for the forthcoming year were president - Ken Cousins, vice president - Aaron Madsen, David Foster - secretary, Todd Howland - treasurer and committee members Naomi Campbell, Tammy Purcell, Matt Stevenson and Dean Shaw.
Captain/coach of the club is Matt Stevenson and captain of the seconds will be James Bartlett.
