Grant for war memorial restoration at Bonnie Doon
A GRANT of $2850 has been received by the Bonnie Doon community to carry out some restoration of the War Memorial there.
The community was assisted in this by council’s community development team.
Refurbishment will involve removing the lichen on the granite and marble parts of the structure, followed by low pressure cleaning with nylon brushes.
The lead letters are to be cleaned and will be covered with a protective coating, while the brass plaques will be cleaned and then waxed.
Heritage Victoria was involved in assessing the memorial and put forward firm details on how the works were to be carried out.
