Grant for war me­mo­rial restora­tion at Bon­nie Doon

A GRANT of $2850 has been re­ceived by the Bon­nie Doon com­mu­nity to carry out some restora­tion of the War Me­mo­rial there.

The com­mu­nity was as­sisted in this by coun­cil’s com­mu­nity de­vel­op­ment team.

Re­fur­bish­ment will in­volve re­mov­ing the lichen on the gran­ite and mar­ble parts of the struc­ture, fol­lowed by low pres­sure clean­ing with ny­lon brushes.

The lead letters are to be cleaned and will be cov­ered with a pro­tec­tive coat­ing, while the brass plaques will be cleaned and then waxed.

Her­itage Vic­to­ria was in­volved in as­sess­ing the me­mo­rial and put for­ward firm de­tails on how the works were to be car­ried out.
