Eagles stay in the finals
MANSFIELD reserves footballers headed to Seymour on Saturday coming off a loss and a six day break from last week’s road trip to Echuca.
They took on the Rochester Tigers who were coming off a great victory the week before, taking care of the highly rated third placed Echuca Bombers.
A loss would finish the Eagles year, a win would ensure they headed to Deakin Reserve next Sunday.
The team welcomed back Jeremy Veniman and big Earl Re Gooding to their line up.
Both had great days as they bring a lot to the side.
Brant Anselmi ( BOG) had another blinder - he has been best in both finals and is really playing some great team football.
His two check side banana sin the last quarter both resulted in goals which capped off a fabulous day.
Benny Vogelzang caused havoc early for the Rochester defence.
He marked everything and led from the front to finish with a game high seven goals.
Guy Taylor is really starting to hit his straps with his strong marking and run out of defence, building many foward attacks.
Jamie Carns, Jad Gerrish and James Octigan on the wings ran all day, using the footy really well and always making the right decisions.
Jackson Kirley, Jamie Rekers, Benny Ryan and Scotty Marckwick presented all day and all look like they are enjoying their footy.
With the margin being 10 goals to nil at half time Rochester decided their only chance was to throw their weight around but t he boys stood t all and looked after one another.
In the second half the Eagles continued on to win by 90 pts.
It was fantastic to see so many Mansfield people at the ground with so much support - it really gives the boys a massive buzz.
The equation is simple this weekend - win against Shepparton United and the boys move on to the day we all strive to get to, lose and it’s all over for another year.
Thanks to everyone that helped out on Saturday and see you all Sunday at Deakin - Go Eagles.
