Where to now for our Golden Girl?

Mansfield Courier - - SPORT -

CATHERINE Skinner (pictured) has now captured what many will say is the pinnacle of her sport - an Olympic gold medal.

So where to now for our Aussie trap shooter?

First off she has a date in Rome at the ISSF World Cup Final in Shotgun events - the conclusive competition of the 2016 ISSF season - scheduled from October 13 to October 15.

After that her schedule for 2017 will depend on selection by Shooting Australia.

First on the agenda will be the National Championships in Perth in January.

After that selection could see her around the world.

Some of the potential events are the Cyprus Grand Prix in February, the World Cup event in India in February/ March, a World Cup event in Mexico in late March followed by a World Cup event in Cyprus in April/ May.

The shotgun World Championships will take place in August/ September 2017 in Russia, followed by the World Cup Final in India in October.

Skinner will have some three years of such a schedule leading up to the 2020 Olympic Games in Tokyo, where her participation will again depend on qualification.
