Peak pics win­ners

MT BULLER has an­nounced the win­ners of its an­nual Peak Pics photo com­pe­ti­tion.

Mt Buller’s Peak Pics photo com­pe­ti­tion is a con­test open to pho­tog­ra­phers of all lev­els of ex­pe­ri­ence, from en­thu­si­as­tic ama­teurs to savvy pro­fes­sion­als.

Now in its sixth year, par­tic­i­pants sub­mit­ted their en­tries via the Mt Buller Face­book page cap­tur­ing the theme “Never Miss a Mo­ment”, taken within the Mt Buller and Mt Stir­ling re­sort bound­aries dur­ing 2016.

This year, Peak Pics re­ceived more than 250 en­tries across four cat­e­gories com­pris­ing of Peo­ple, Land­scape, Ac­tion, and Light.

The judg­ing panel was made up of five Mt Buller based pho­tog­ra­phers: Tony Har­ring­ton of The Pho­to­shop, Kit Run­dle Mud-skim ex­traor­di­naire, Black and White por­trait spe­cial­ist Sealey Brandt, the leg­endary Mark “Woody” Woods­ford, and Mt Buller re­sort photograph­er Andrew Rail­ton.

It was a chal­leng­ing task for the judges to se­lect the win­ners and fi­nal­ists.

2016 Peak Pics photo com­pe­ti­tion win­ners were:

Peo­ple: ‘Sun­set Grins’, Kieran O’Brien;

Land­scape: ‘Good morn­ing Mt Buller’, Maddi Shae;

Ac­tion: ‘Line to the Sky’, Thomas Duvil­lard;

Light and over­all win­ner: ‘An un­ex­pected view’, Matt Austin.

A Peo­ple’s Choice award was voted by the gen­eral public via the Mt Buller Peak Pics en­try page, and Elise Young was awarded the ti­tle with her en­try ti­tled “Sun­set Per­fec­tion” un­der the Land­scape cat­e­gory.

Group man­ager of mar­ket­ing, sales and events for Mt Buller Re­sort Man­age­ment, Gil­lian Dob­son, said: “Peak Pics is a fan­tas­tic op­por­tu­nity for peo­ple to show off their pho­tog­ra­phy skills and high­light the beauty of our alpine en­vi­ron­ment.

“We have seen in­cred­i­ble tal­ent this year and it’s great to see the num­ber of par­tic­i­pants grow ev­ery year.”

The col­lec­tion of art­work will be framed and hung, along with be­ing show­cased in an artis­tic dis­play at Alpine Cen­tral, Mt Buller.

HIGH PEAKS: Kieran O’Brien cap­tured this beau­ti­ful sun­set with peo­ple at the pin­na­cle of Mt Buller also en­joy­ing the view.

LOO LOOK­ING ACROSS: In the land­scape sec­tion of the com­pe­ti­tion ‘Good morn­ing Mt Buller’ cap­tured by Maddi Shae was a win­ner.

OVER­ALL WIN­NER: An Un­ex­pected View took out the ma­jor prize in the Peak Pics com­pe­ti­tion - by Matt Austin.

FOL­LOW THE PATH: ‘Line to the Sky’ by Thomas Duvil­lard was also a win­ner.
