Ancona ram sale success
ANCONA Rams held their 6th annual on-site auction earlier this month, with all involved agreeing the day was a resounding success.
Offering 60 well-bred Dorset rams and 21 White Suffolk rams, the Ingpen family were pleased with both the large turnout of new purchasers and the return of previous buyers.
Stud stock was presented in excellent condition – showcasing the continued success of the breeding program at Ancona – and were well received by buyers with a top sale price of $1800.
Auctioneer Adam Mountjoy commenced the auction with the first three rams setting the scene for the sale making $1600 each.
The 60 Poll Dorset rams topped at $1800 and averaged $1211.66.
The White Suffolk rams topped at $1300 with an average of $1011.90.
The overall average for the 81 rams was $1159.87.
The results puts the Ancona rams right up with the best averages of other recent North East and Goulburn Valley ram sales.
The Ancona ram sale is quickly establishing itself as a reliable place to source top terminal sires with excellent genetics backed up by good figures.
GOING, GOING, GONE: The 6th annual Ancona Ram Sale was held on October 12, with prices reflecting some of the best seen in the North East.
