An­cona ram sale suc­cess

AN­CONA Rams held their 6th an­nual on-site auc­tion ear­lier this month, with all in­volved agree­ing the day was a re­sound­ing suc­cess.

Of­fer­ing 60 well-bred Dorset rams and 21 White Suf­folk rams, the Ing­pen fam­ily were pleased with both the large turnout of new pur­chasers and the re­turn of pre­vi­ous buy­ers.

Stud stock was pre­sented in ex­cel­lent con­di­tion – show­cas­ing the con­tin­ued suc­cess of the breed­ing pro­gram at An­cona – and were well re­ceived by buy­ers with a top sale price of $1800.

Auc­tion­eer Adam Moun­tjoy com­menced the auc­tion with the first three rams set­ting the scene for the sale mak­ing $1600 each.

The 60 Poll Dorset rams topped at $1800 and av­er­aged $1211.66.

The White Suf­folk rams topped at $1300 with an av­er­age of $1011.90.

The over­all av­er­age for the 81 rams was $1159.87.

The re­sults puts the An­cona rams right up with the best av­er­ages of other re­cent North East and Goul­burn Val­ley ram sales.

The An­cona ram sale is quickly es­tab­lish­ing it­self as a re­li­able place to source top ter­mi­nal sires with ex­cel­lent ge­net­ics backed up by good fig­ures.

GO­ING, GO­ING, GONE: The 6th an­nual An­cona Ram Sale was held on Oc­to­ber 12, with prices re­flect­ing some of the best seen in the North East.
