Under 14s secure strong win

Mansfield Courier - - SPORT -

BLUE skies on Saturday greeted Delatite’s under 14 cricketers at the Mansfield Recreation Reserve.

Resuming its round two clash against Wangaratta’s City Colts White, the boys were confident of defending their total of 189 from the previous Saturday.

Lachy Scales took the new ball and had the batsmen playing and missing his outswingers.

Tom Dunstan also opened the bowling and did so with immediate effect, skittling the stumps with his second ball.

In his next over he found the outside edge and keeper Max Lange took a magnificent diving catch to complete the dismissal.

Dunstan completed four scintillating overs to snare 3/3.

Isaac Murray was introduced and he too took a wicket in his first over, a fine caught and bowled.

Alec Ritchie then came on and bamboozled the batsmen with his loopy leg spinners.

He also finished with the remarkable figures of 3/3, off his five overs, all three victims caught.

Micky Burrows also snared a wicket with his ‘offies’.

Tidy spells of bowling were also completed by Declan Callahan, Jake Berry, Luke Berriman, Cody George, Prabh Sandhu and Billy Dunstan.

After handing the gloves over to Berry at the drinks break, Lange also had a bowl.

Berry combined with Murray to complete a runout.

After being 4/18 at the 10 over mark Colts, to their credit, steadied their innings to keep Delatite honest.

They were dismissed for 62 in the 36th over.

This was a strong performance across the board from the team, with Tom Dunstan taking out the O’Malleys Pizza award for his 13 runs against the new ball last week, and his 3/3 with the new ball this week.
