Nominations for citizen awards open
NOMINATIONS for Mansfield Shire Citizen Awards are now open and will be accepted until Monday, December 12.
Each year the nomination process highlights the admirable work done by so many local citizens.
“This is the chance for all of us to publicly thank a person who we know has done a lot for the community, often with little recognition,” Mansfield Shire mayor Paul Volkering said.
“If you have been thinking about someone who enhances our community in any way, please put their name forward,” he said.
Awards for all categories will be acknowledged and presented as part of the community Australia Day celebrations on Thursday, January 26, 2017.
Nominations will be received for the following categories:
The Citizen of the Year Award - this award gives us the opportunity to celebrate kind and useful deeds and recognise community service by individuals;
The Senior Citizen of the Year category which will be open to receive nominations for people over the age of 65 years;
The Young Citizen of the Year - may be nominated by groups or individuals and recognises outstanding achievement and contribution to the community by a person up to the age of 28; and
The Community Event of the Year is presented to an individual, organisation or group in recognition of the event’s valuable local contribution.
Nomination forms may be downloaded from council’s website www.mansfield.vic. gov.au or can be collected from council’s customer service counter, Highett Street, Mansfield.
