Giving regional police the facilities they need
WORKS on upgrading Mt Buller’s police station are expected to commence shortly.
Last week the State Government announced more than 30 police stations across regional Victoria are being upgraded, replaced or refurbished.
Although it was announced earlier this year an upgrade for Mt Buller police station it has now been confirmed works will be carried out over summer.
As well as station upgrades being replaced or refurbished, 10 police residences to support officers living and working in regional towns will also be upgraded.
All 15 station refurbishments are expected to be finished by the middle of 2017.
Premier Daniel Andrews said the government has also fast-tracked the recruitment of 406 new police officers announced this year to get more officers on the beat sooner.
In the next 12 months, around 1000 police, protective services officers and police custody officers will be in training at the Victoria Police Academy.
