Another heavy Eagles loss
WHILE the Mansfield Eagles seniors started off well during their match against the Euroa Magpies on the weekend, they soon fell behind, copping a 46 point loss.
“We were doing alright until about 5- 10 minutes i nto t he second quarter, when Jimmy Herridge got reported for elbowing someone in the back of the head,” coach Cam Hotton said.
Jimmy Herridge was taken off the ground as a result, leaving the Eagles one man down against Euroa, who are sitting comfortably in third position on the ladder.
“We were just playing some ordinary football,” said Cam.
“It was a mental thing – all the boys just seemed to be switched off.
“We could have done a lot better.”
While the boys lost to Euroa in their nest, Cam noted the efforts made by Ashraf Davies and Lachy Christopher.
“There weren’t t oo many highlights and we went out there with a lack of intensity, but they played quite well,” said Cam, referring to both Ashraf and Lachy.
With their hopes up, the Eagles will be busily preparing for another home match against Benalla this Saturday.
“Benalla are sitting comfortably in second position,” said Cam.
“We’re still hoping that we can bounce back.”
