All clear in deer hunting operation
A JOINT operation between Victoria Police and Game Management Authority targeting enforcement and compliance of deer shooters within the Alpine area over the long weekend detected no offences.
Operation Elmer 2018 was conducted on Friday and Saturday of the Queen’s Birthday weekend and involved checking camping sites and re-iterating legislation and other requirements to hunters.
According to Victoria Police, the interaction was very well received by the hunters.
A total of 45 persons were spoken to, 35 vehicles checked and 32 preliminary breath tests taken.
No offences were detected (either traffic or firearm related) with 100 per cent compliance by all those checked.
Authorities said they were very pleased that shooters were complying with the relevant legislation.
